Two marvellous evening of entertaining history to enjoy this February.

A local history of Buxton

On Tuesday, February 20th, come along to High Peak Bookstore and Café to enjoy a presentation on ‘A local history of Buxton and its surrounding area’, by Netta Christie of ‘Discover Buxton’.

The presentation promises to be entertaining and informative, and begins at 7pm. Entry is £5 payable at the door, and you can telephone to book on 01298 71017. The café will be open for hot and cold drinks and light snacks.

Eminent Victorians

The history theme continues on Tuesday, February 27th, when you are invited to eavesdrop on ‘A conversation between eminent Victorians’. Namely Mr Robert Rippon Duke, Architect of The Devonshire Hospital Dome, and Mr Edward Milner, Landscape Architect of The Pavilion Gardens.

This enjoyable conversation between these two highly talented gentlemen will begin at 7pm. Again entry is £5 payable on the door, and telephone bookings can also be made on the same number: 01298 71017. The café will be serving light refreshments, including our delicious coffee and range of teas.
